Eidos was established in 1974 in Italy by two brothers, who were engineers, Giovanni and Franco Tabasso. The use of microprocessors played a central role at the early developments of the company. By 1987 they had developed a wide range of products for industrial measurement and feeding solutions and devices based on inkjet and later laser technology. By the 2000s the product family of marking devices specialized in thermal transfer printing had been es- tablished, and by today they have built up a globally outstanding knowledge base in the field of automation and digital- based thermal transfer printing.

The Eidos reinvests a substantial amount of its turnover into research and development, and as a result the unique solu- tions developed by them are always a step ahead of the current market technologies.
